What is a poster session?

A poster presentation is an allotted period at a meeting or educational program when medical students and resident present large posters displaying their work related to a particular research, case study, or quality improvement project. Poster presentations depend upon clear illustrations, concise text, and simple design, since they have to be understood within seconds, and this leads to the initiation of discussion about the topic being presented. Presenters remain stationed next to their respective posters and get into discussions regarding their work and its relevance.
